Small-to-medium sized businesses (SMB) are increasingly relying upon web-based applications and web-enabled services for running their business. Applications such as CRM, e-commerce transactions and other web-enabled applications are accessed both locally and remotely from outside the business facilities. These web-based applications are vulnerable to attacks from viruses, intrusions, and denial of service (DoS) attacks, as traffic comes into the network through various ports and firewalls without being inspected.

Kemp Technologies’ LoadMaster Application Delivery Controller (ADC) and Server Load Balancer (SLB) appliances are low energy consumers. Reducing energy use at the point of consumption, LoadMaster provides benefits to other areas by reducing load on power and cooling facilities, which in turn reduce their own energy use.

The Web experience is changing for consumers. While the National Retail Federation reports that over 90 percent of customers research products on the Web before purchasing, a single product photo and description is not enough to close the sale. Through broadband, with Flash and JPEG product images, retailers are providing information to potential customers which will improve the likelihood of closing the sale.

Chances are, if you’re utilizing SSL, you’re not utilizing it to its full potential. SSL is a powerful technology that can help organizations protect their data as well as their users. While the technology behind SSL is solid, the most common best practices for its implementation do not take full advantage of the benefits that SSL brings. And this may be inadequate to provide proper security to the modern web application environment.

Websites have become critical components of most businesses’ core operations. They support the brand and ordering process, serve as data information resources and assist in overall customer care. Having poor website performance or poor reliability can destroy or severely damage a business and its reputation. The increasing importance of these websites leads to critical requirements of security, reliability and scalability. Delivering these, however, can leave an SMB stretched beyond its resources.

Chuck Dubuque - Product Marketing Manager, Red Hat Server and desktop virtualization technologies, which bring cost and agility advantages to enterprise IT, have become mainstream in most datacenters. However, after nearly 10 years, virtualized servers still only represent about 30 percent of x86 production workloads due to technology limitations and the expense of proprietary virtualization platforms. In this session, Chuck Dubuque will cover: * The benefits of datacenter virtualization * Technologies in the open source community that will enable pervasive virtualization * The move to the cloud * The particular advantages of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and the Red Hat subscription model

Because of the outstanding economy, flexibility, and service levels it offers, virtualization is transforming data centers at breakneck speed: by 2016, an estimated 80 percent of the world's x86 servers will be Virtual Machines (VMs). But the speed of this transformation, along with the high resource utilization, ease of cloning, moving workloads, and other ways virtualization works its magic, raise challenges for traditional IT services and the teams that deliver them.

The risk and downtime of server migration have locked many IT teams into platforms that are no longer ideal. Migrations are often delayed or avoidedwhether its moving data to the cloud or back on premises, or upgrading the hardware of the database software. This results in lost opportunities, unnecessary costs, and a lack of agility that todays IT teams can no longer afford. Carbonite Move Powered by DoubleTake quickly and easily migrates physical, virtual, and cloud workloads over any distance with minimal risk and near-zero downtime. Using efficient real-time, byte-level replication technology, Carbonite Move creates a replica of the data, application, database, or entire server being migrated and keeps it in sync with the production system. The migrated data can be validated without disrupting business operations, and downtime is limited to the seconds or minutes required for cutover to the new server.

The risk and downtime associated with server migration have prevented many IT organizations from making the move to cloud. Some have valid concerns about cloud lock-in. Still, without cloud, IT teams are less agile, less flexible and less able to meet the demands of their business. With so much C-suite awareness of the cloud competitive edge, IT can no longer avoid taking this step. Carbonite DoubleTake Cloud Migration Center quickly and easily migrates physical, virtual and cloud workloads over any distance with minimal risk and near-zero downtime. The streamlined process automates 100 manual steps into five easy steps, automating everything from server discovery to target VM provisioning to the ultimate cutover. Using efficient real-time, byte-level replication technology, Cloud Migration Center creates a replica of the entire server being migrated and keeps it in sync with production systems.

Noble Group needed to revamp its IT approach to support its technology and global business, which had in-house apps spread across 1,000 different servers around the world. Having worked with Rackspace previously, it had confidence in Rackspaces expertise in IT transformation, and decided to take up its managed public cloud services for Microsoft Azure, and professional services for cloud migration, performance and scalability. Yet, this resulted in greater gained cost-savings and increased agility, as Noble moved its massive workloads to the Azure cloud with round-the-clock expertise from Rackspace. This proved to be a wise choice. To adapt to Noble Groups fast changing business model, Rackspace needed to migrate 60 percent of its resources from on-premises infrastructure to Azure, following eight months of planning. At the end of the cloud migration, Noble Group successfully reduced the 2,000 servers from its infrastructure to just 200 servers.
