As the threat landscape evolves, organizations have accepted the fact that they have to take a more proactive detection approach to advanced threats rather than relying on traditional defenses. As a result, customers have turned to detection and response tools that allow for proactive hunting for Indicators of Attack (IoA) and reactive sweeping for indicators of compromise (IoCs). Once found, those tools are required to automatically respond to attacks or to at least provide for an action from the Incident Response (IR) staff. Unfortunately, due to the number and complexity of both these attacks and the detection/response tools, organizations struggle to hire enough qualified staff and stay on top of the discovered threats. This is compounded by a worldwide cybersecurity skills shortage. Managed detection and response (XDR) provides advanced threat hunting, detection, and response as a service to organizations that seek assistance for their own IR staff, or for those who wish to o

While threat prevention continues to improve with the use of advanced techniques, adversaries are outpacing these advances requiring security teams to implement threat detection and response programs. Security teams are often addressing the process haphazardly, using disconnected point tools and manual processes that consume too many analysts and result in slow mean-time to detection and response. While EDR has enabled security teams to take important steps forward for detection and response, ultimately it can only look at the endpoints which limits the scope of threats that can be detected and if something is detected, limits the view of who and what is affected and thus, how best to respond. ESG therefore recommends looking beyond the endpoint and utilizing natively integrated security solutions across more than just one vector to improve detection and response times. The more data you can knit together, the more effective you can be to uncover the security incidents most dangerous to your organization. Watch this webinar to learn about the value of XDR: connecting detection and response across multiple security layers. Dave Gruber, senior analyst at ESG, shares recent research and his views on the evolution of threat detection and response; making the case for expanding the capabilities and expectations of detection and response solutions. Wendy Moore, VP of Product Marketing, discusses Trend Micros own XDR strategy and the unique value that Trend Micro can bring to detection, investigation and response.

Microsoft SharePoint 2013 workflows are a powerful way to share information, collaborate on projects and automate business processes. However, in addition to the basic workflow capabilities that come with SharePoint, organizations also need sophisticated, reliable SharePoint workflow apps with advanced capabilities. Since custom code can be expensive and time-consuming, and customization options are limited in cloud hosted SharePoint environments, third-party applications make it possible to build advanced SharePoint workflow applications without dealing with the challenges of custom code. To help you evaluate third-party workflow solutions, here are 10 tips to consider.

This IDC MarketScape includes vendors that create and sell software in the client virtualization space, with a focus on centralized virtual desktops, distributed virtual desktops, and virtual user session (VUS) software. Vendors that only offer user state virtualization and/or software products that support virtual client computing deployments but not one of the aforementioned products will not be included in the IDC MarketScape graphic or profiles. This is because these types of solutions address a specific or niche need in the market but do not, by themselves, provide a complete software solution that an end customer can purchase on a standalone basis or in addition to a Microsoft Server version.

VMware Horizon support for published applications provides exciting new opportunities for customers running Citrix XenApp. Tightly integrated with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS), VMware Horizon is a new option for delivering not just published applications and shared desktops, but also virtual desktops, software as a service (SaaS), and virtualized applications to the devices your end users want to use. This white paper provides guidance for planning and undertaking a migration from Citrix XenApp to VMware Horizon. Four approaches to XenApp migration are detailed, including the major steps required for their implementation. Whether the goal is to migrate an existing XenApp infrastructure to Horizon, replace it with a new system, or simply integrate legacy Citrix infrastructure with your Horizon virtual desktop deployment, VMware has the innovative products and technology you need.

To meet the growing challenges of a competitive world economy, a digital transformation is taking place in the enterprise. Organizations realize that to be competitive they need to be more agile. They need to reach their customers wherever they are, and they need to be able to scale their applications to meet customer demands. To meet these challenges, organizations are deploying new microservice applications that are changing the application delivery environment. These applications are agile, configured to enable new features to be added without disrupting applications in production, and designed to automatically instantiate instances in response to increasing user demand. In short, microservices are drastically changing the way that applications are deployed and managed. This introduces a high level of complexity to network infrastructures because traditional applications are not going away. Applications will continue to be designed for both microservices and traditional 3-tier imple

The world of IT is undergoing a digital transformation. Applications are growing fast, and so are the users consuming them. These applications are everywherein the datacenter, on virtual and/or microservices platforms, in the cloud, and as SaaS. More and more apps are now being moved out of datacenters to a cloud-based infrastructure. In order for an optimized and secure delivery of these applications, IT needs specific network appliances called Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs). These ADCs come in hardware, virtual, and containerized form factors, and are sized by Network Administrators based on the current and future usage of applications. The challenge with this is that its hard to foresee sizing or scalability requirements for these ADCs since users are constantly increasing, and applications are consistently evolving, as well as moving out of datacenters. Complicating matters, most ADCs are fixed-capacity network appliances that provide zero or minimum expansion capability

Application performance management (APM) is an IT discipline that continues to evolve as new technologies appear. The new wave of microservices architecture and containerization has led to what is referred to as cloud-native development, and this approach has one of the fastest adoption rates of any new technology we have witnessed. With cloud-native environments there is the need to monitor and manage these new types of applications, but the challenge is that they are quite different from traditional monolithic systems. This report delves into what the differences are, how these affect how they are monitored, and how a new generation of vendors have stepped up and introduced novel solutions to meet these challenges. We also examine the incumbent leaders in the APM market that have transformed their solutions to expand and cover cloud-native environments.

In order to better understand where spyware is going, or more importantly, where it’s evolved from, we actually need to wind the clock back a lot further than may be first imagined; in fact, over fifteen years. If we look at the embryonic stages of the anti-virus industry, around sixteen years ago there were the first boot-sector viruses. It has taken this time for viruses as we’ve traditionally known them to evolve towards the more commercially viable, or intellectual-property-theft status that we now associate with contemporary viruses, a fact not realized by many. This whitepaper goes in-depth to discuss the history of spyware and its evolving future.
